A fascinating underwater world awaits you in Germany’s largest freshwater and saltwater aquarium in the Neue Mitte in Oberhausen. On the nearly 3,500 square meter exhibition area over two floors, up to 20,000 marine inhabitants can be admired in more than 40 tanks. An absolute highlight is the 1.2 million liter Atlantic deep-sea tank, through which an approximately 20 m long glass tunnel leads. Sometimes you will find yourself in a research submarine, sometimes in a mysterious sea grotto, before you suddenly come face to face with a dogfish.
Afterwards, stroll through CentrO, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure park, in over 200 boutiques and shops, all guaranteed to be open until 8 p.m. on Saturdays.
